5ft And A Peanut Poem by Nicola Kelly

5ft And A Peanut

5ft and a peanut

At the age of ten I,
Did stand heads above the rest,
Of my classmates at school,
Potential was there at best.

I stood at about 4ft 7,
Which for my age made me,
Above the average height as,
Over my peers heads could see.

Over night it seemed to change,
As my growth hormone did stall,
Everyone had caught right up,
Being the same as them all.

Was goalkeeper in the netball team,
School photos was near the back,
Graduated to the front of pics,
As in the height dept did lack.

Its described as a growth spurt,
And over six years all I grew,
Was only an inch per year,
Leaving me a mere 5ft 2.

I have embraced my stature,
After having potential of being tall,
With a big heart and personality,
Best things come in packages small.
