698. Make Me A Drunkard! 041009

They say, ‘be happy and be away from people unhappy’
But how can I pretend to be happy when I am not happy?
I wonder how joy will spring from my heart
When I have not realized truth but in dark?

To be joyful and to give joy, they say
Love is the only means; but to my dismay
I have not tasted true Love in this world
To my eyes all relations are mere trade!

Cinderella’s misery was no more as she met
The prince with true love and a heart wet
She jerked away all her relations false
To unite the prince in a private place

I know my dearest beloved! You are within!
I shut all the doors made up of my thick skin
The five senses and the brain store of thoughts
To make my heart a lovely bed for sweet nights!

But! Alas there stands always a third person
Between You and me hindering our union
The ego the source of all my thoughts and births!
The more I try to repel the more adamant it becomes!

Oh prince of my soul! Find a way to drive away
This ever present and resolute ego stands midway
Let my thirsty lips taste Your true eternal Love
Let my heart be filled with pure oceanic Love

Then You send me to this earth or any hell
As I could carry the ocean of Your Love
I will make a heaven, as if by a magic spell,
Since I would be a drunkard of Your Love!

Two atmas are being introduced – jivatma and paramatma in the form of Chidabhasa and Chit respectively. Traveller is the jivatma – he can travel outwards towards anAtma or can travel “inwards” towards paramAtma (by bhyagaa-tyaga-lakshana) . Rtam pibantau Sukrtasya loke Guhaam pravishtau parame paraardhe Chayatapau brahma vidovadanti panchagnayo ye cha trinachiketah We will 1st give the gist. Within the body there is a heart (physical heart) – within this physical heart there is a subtle mind which belongs to sookshma shareeram; in that mind there are two consciousness’ – chit the OC and the chidabahasa the RC the mind being the reflecting medium. Chit is paramatma or saakshi and is nontravelling and chidabhasa is jivAtma or ahanakara and travelling – and these two diagonally opposite entities – like light and shadow – are co-located in the mind. This pair is talked about in the karmakanda by karmis and in jnanakanda by the wise as well – the only difference is in the former the destination is outside and the latter has its destination inside. --------------------------- self-knowledge as shown in Katha Upanishad is explained wonderfully well....you are a real master in this subject...keep writing
