75 And Expecting Much More Poem by Jim Boone

75 And Expecting Much More

Rating: 4.0

As the advanced years of stayin' alive
Are a shock and the stuff a pre-70/fo-Ho-
Mental-breakdown was made of, but now
There's the therapy of IBC Galveston
As home, and good-neighbor-friends/family
Care brings me to the old dude that I Am.

Healthy, w - healthy and w - healthy
The wealthy and wise part seem to come and go
While, on the ‘aah' side of kerplunk, a
US Poet Laureate Nomination blew me away
And the ‘good wishes' focused on here I'll stay.

There are Trains in my life and unity of
Good-will hunting for today's recipient.
I am now a registered bone marrow donor
Who will show up when the call comes in
And you should be if you're not, oh yes.

I simply don't care about most people
Who will never get it, show up, turn out
Or be there in your mornings, afternoons
And nights; those who need to simply
Get out of the way and tend to their
Karma, present and future and DA status
Constant challenges for the Master Class
On dealing with or ignoring, on the road to Zion
Beyond the sky and physical limits unlimited.

There's always Galveston and New York City
Both with a Broadway and people who care:
And to me, everything else is only geography.
Oh Lord won't you make me a philanthropist
With CLOUT who remembers and rewards
Each friend who was "So proud" of my
Nomination while now, I lay me down to sleep,
But not for long, not for too long.
There's so much more...
