979 Simply Be My Friend Poem by V F

979 Simply Be My Friend

Do not capture me a rainbow
don’t you even try
do not build me a mountain
I shall tell you why

It is enough for me
that You are my friend
through thick and thin
through sunshine and rain
if ever I need a shoulder to cry
I shall just call out to you and
hope you understand why.

It is wonderful to know
there is someone who cares
for whom it matters
whether my face is full of smiles or tears
your friendship is a treasure
a gift untold, more valuable to me
than rainbows, silver or gold.

If ever I need some sunshine
I shall ask you to smile
so please don’t do anything more
than simply be my friend!
