A Battered Man Poem by Richard Phoenix

A Battered Man

Maybe one day I will rise again.
Maybe I will remain hopeless.

For only time can tell.
For only time can unravel.

Hard times and pleasures have summed up my travels.

I do wish to succeed.
I do wish to overcome.

But it's sorrow and misfortune to which I have succumb.

I pray to the angels.
I try to find god.

Yet I remain stagnant as their heads slowly nod.

I shall seek the light ever so blindly.
Please remove the veil that has kept me from thriving.
