A Big Day Poem by Warren Brown

A Big Day

Rating: 3.0

And so to Texas we came
To set up the big silver mine
Texas is dry, they ne'er see rain
There's hills and there's Cyprus Pine

The hills around are extra rough
And there's rocks at every turn
Its dusty, Mate, you gotta be tough
Down at Texas, where life is a burn

But we're here to set up camp
Not whinge about the rocks
Its dry, we'd love some damp
Might even soften the rocks!

A milestone was scored today
For the access road is through
Mountaintop now gained, hooray!
My! What a magnificent view!

Non-existent was the dunny
Yogi's put her in, done real good
Today it works real good, funny,
We'll miss the que in which we stood

But that's not all, not at all,
There's concrete been laid
And things been built as I recall
And many a strainer's been stayed

Today we started on the leach pads
Dozer and scraper doing it tough
There's rock and rocks in scads
Requires strong men, its rough stuff!

That's the end of my reporting folks
Tomorrow is another tough day
And no doubt Huey will play his jokes
Just "Send Her Down Huey" I say!
