A Blue Gem Between Us Poem by Liza Sud

A Blue Gem Between Us

I am running to you, but there is a blue gem between us.
Want to touch your hand - but gem doesn't let.
It's as big as breast, it is dazzling, clear.
and you just can't reach me when you're trying to penetrate.

It's so big and cold, it is so silent.
Is it someone's love? Is it someone's shield?
It's concealing you, I can't see you, darling.
Just to look at it from both sides - is bliss?

I am running to you, but I flop in blue gem.
Dazzling gem many-sided, of deep color, blue!
And it makes me sober, its rays are exciting
as the sky itself standing before you!

It's too big a gem, and I can't embrace it.
Its pride is immovable - I am helpless, small.
Is it my true love or is it protecting?
What is it here for? Where is it from?

I am as puzzled as you are about the gem and its purpose. If it is a symbol, then what does it symbolize? If it is a vision, what is the reality behind it? We know two things for sure: 1) the blue gem is actively keeping us apart, and 2) your dream-self is determined to overcome this obstacle that divides us, and your conscious self proposes various explanations of its identity, and finally your conscious self asks a series of questions about to see if it fits any previous experiences you've had. There is a word in English to describe your efforts in the dream to overcome it and to comprehend it: that word is TENACIOUS, that is, you refuse to GIVE UP. The dream and the poem both stop, but you, that is, Liza herself, persist. Are you surprised your TENACITY makes me happy? Because it does. Another thing that makes me happy is the poem's TONE: this is a genial, flowing narrative, no desperation, no abrupt changes in emotional probing. You have written a cogent, coherent poem about psychic material that usually swamps meanings and leaves a person anxious and frustrated. Your poem is what we call A MORAL VICTORY (You probably have such a concept in Russian.) , that is, you did not win in the conventional sense, but you preserved your composure, identity, relationship with me, control of psychic energy. I'm using available psychological language in my comment. You could also use religious language: You were tempted to give up HOPE, but you preserved that virtue. You were tempted to run away to save yourself, but you chose to have FAITH in goodness and the temptation collapsed. You encountered a force - the blue gem - which was ambiguous, but you didn't curse the darkness, instead you lit a candle, and sought UNDERSTANDING. I am puzzled, too, Liza. The blue gem could be a symbol, but ppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppwhat does symbolize
