A Boa Strikes Samoa
Bright as disaster
The morning sky
Far above
A burnished sea
Leans close
As though to devour
Not just one
But all-
Holds still-
For one small signal waiting
To spread its length, slip down
The rope of day
And crush
The soft-delicate,
Bones of earth
