A Candle Burns In The Window Poem by Thomas Koron

A Candle Burns In The Window

Rating: 4.0

[Cecilia's aria from 'Duke Randolph']

A candle burns in the window,
To light up his way back to me.
It seems so long since he's been here,
I long for my heart to be free.

A candle burns in the window,
To send out my call in the night.
The time has come for our joining,
Let this serve as his guiding light.

We once stood so close together,
Now this place is cold and lonely.
Waiting to hear sudden footsteps,
Watching the forest so closely.

I must fight these pangs of sorrow,
Feeling strength take hold within me.
There was a sound from the courtyard,
But alas, my ears deceive me.

And now I feel very hopeless,
The time seems to move in reverse.
There must be some resolution,
To free me from this wretched curse.

This candle burns very slowly,
The only light my eyes can see.
It seems so long since he's been here,
I long for my heart to be free.
