A Child's Laughter Poem by Faiz Ahmad

A Child's Laughter

Rating: 5.0

A CHILD'S LAUGHTER

A stream flows next to my home.
I am grateful that its water
Is not bitter.
And I am grateful that the colour of sky
Soothes my eyes.
One could hear the sound of thoughts
Of the grass that grows on the side.
An old man sometimes comes to
Wash his memories on the shore.
Further ahead, the stream turns right.
Perhaps an invisible hand is
Showing it the way to Eternity's door.

Come, let us fill our pockets with the
Sand upon which hope shines.
Let us steal an orange from a tree that
Grows in the expanse of solitude.
'Life is like a child's laughter.'
Father used to say,
'You must listen to it from the heart'.
A stream flows next to my home.
I am grateful that its water
Is not bitter.
