A Child’s Plight Poem by Meetika Srivastava

A Child’s Plight

Born as a blessing to them but was forsaken for “one more mouth to feed” and left alone on the streets.
Some showed pity, some gazed with awe & others just walked away.
Generous some offered alms to the starving stomach.
But how I wished had they realised “mouth that eats got hands to work too”.
How I wished I am your own future which to flourish needs your nurture.
Show me not your pity; give me not your sympathy.
Just don’t deny me my right to life and let me live before I die.
