A Child’s Prayer Poem by Dr John Celes

A Child’s Prayer

Lord, hear my prayer from my heart;
I am a little child of yours;
Upon my knees, I make my pleas;
Please hearken to my plaintive voice.

Help me to walk behind your cross,
Upon the footsteps of Christ Lord;
Behind me, let an angel stand,
Protecting me from evil world.

Strengthen my hands to do good deeds;
Give me the peace of mind to learn;
And let my tongue utter kind words;
My heart with love for Thee must burn.

O Holy Spirit, anoint me!
Let me taste the Word of God;
And let me live as per His will,
And walk upon the heaven’s road.

O thank you Father for your love,
Allowing me my birth on earth;
Bless my parents, siblings and all,
Who slog to care and give me mirth.

Lord, I am just a little child;
Let wily world’s ways not harm me;
Tell me the purpose of my birth;
A tree on river banks, let me be!
