A Child To The Mother... Poem by Uwakwe Uchechkwu

A Child To The Mother...

Play a lute
Oh my beloved
That I may be drunk
And go dizzy in your lullaby
Curl me in your arms

Never found peace greater
than peace hidden between your arms
Your soft tender arms
The wall between reality and illusion

Oh
Oh
Your cuddle
Your snuggle
Your tickle
More than a dream
More than reality

Just as in a pantomime
Lay me down to sleep
Lift me to paradise in slow motion

Then cuddle me softly
like a teddy bear

Then in a contralto
You'll say
'Sleep well my child'
