A Christian Prayer For The Faithful Departed Poem by Dr John Celes

O God, our Father eternal in Heaven!
You gave us this birth by Your wisdom and love;
You guide us each moment of our life on earth;
You permit death to take our soul for mirth!

Our life on earth is just a transient phase;
Although from dust, You call us Your children;
Like Christ, your one Son, we die and resurrect;
He'll judge us for our fitness for heaven.

Death takes our lives away from kith and kin;
Death takes us to the world of sleep awhile;
Meanwhile, our souls are purified for sin;
Rain Your mercy, Lord, on the faithful departed.

Today, we pray for all the departed souls;
Forgive their sins and bless them for their roles;
Let blood of slain Lamb of God wash them spotless;
Embrace the righteous ones with love boundless.

O Lord, let all our loved ones be united soon;
Being born a Christian on earth is our boon;
Resurrect our beloved ones for heaven;
Help them to pass the Test and make their odds, even.
Amen.
