A Cockroach Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

A Cockroach

A cockroach

Like horses in Chaco
Absent sound of a bell
Bodies sharp, ears up
Galloping like clouds
With speed raising dust
Some sort of fearful
But lovely at same time
The cockroach stood there
Long body, dark brown
Antennas, sputniks
Wings hidden and in sight
It reminds wheelbarrow
Of Carlos Williams
Reddish, wet, attractive.

I wondered what to do
Mesmerized I observed.

So much adoration for this timid pest.
