A Cold November Poem by Kanchan Dubey

A Cold November

Rating: 4.5

Take me away from this cold november
Make me forget all the sorrows I remember
For this life is not what I hoped for
And this world is nothing but a closed door
It leaves me yearning for more
How do I heal myself
When the medicine I need is not on any shelf

Great universal rhetorical question that to some extent we all face. I just finished Bill Styron's book 'Darkness Visible' that deals with his struggles that brought him through. His case was severe and required hospitialization and the right mix of medication. Several 'trials and errors' only made things worse. Sandra Fowler's poem 'Lost' on this website ponders 'Why most warmth always seems so far away.' My two poems, 'October' and 'Beyond October' also grapple with the same issue. You have written what I call a 'ponder poem.' You do not impose a conclusion on the reader, you pose the question and provoke the reader to ponder and search for an answer to a question they may of avoided or not realized was in the back of their mind. Thanks, Tom
