A Combat Ever Raging Poem by Varghese J Kuttikat

A Combat Ever Raging

If everybody were all right in mind and body
Medical profession would have become obsolete
If there were no litigation, no legal courts conceivable
See, if there were no human race, God's Heaven
And the Devil's Hell would ever remain vacant
But O, in that case, both God and the Devil
Would have entered into a pact awesome
Both abstaining themselves from rivalry relentless
And consequent avalanche of fire, brimstone and bloodiness
However, God cancelled the likely pact out at His whim
And took upon Himself the bonds of Creation
The embittered Devil burned with vengeance
Both set about a combat ever raging for the conquest of Man
