A Composition.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

i search
within, i am looking
for my own sound,

i see a landscape
of sand and reefs
a caravan of camels
under the full moon

i am within me
out there beyond this
thin line
of reality and fantasy
i see many people
all looking like me

i talk to myself
to forget other voices
i look at myself
see my red eyes
my red landscape when
i close my eyes

i open my eyes
to the noonday sun
and close it
suddenly

and that is what i see
this closing and opening
compose
a poem
