A Dark Night Poem by Damian olatunde Ogedengbe

A Dark Night

While I was alone in my room,
Wallowing in my own thoughts,
Gazing at the ceiling with smiles,
Looking at how my new bulbs glowed,
The cold wind blew my curtains opened,

The lights suddenly went out,
still trying to focus on the ceiling,
Then I heard a thud behind me,
I turned around and saw nothing unusual,
But i heard something slither around me,

I felt a very cold touch on my left legs,
I tried to have a grasp but found nothing,
This time, my heart was palpitating,
I could hear my own heart beat clearly,
I closed my eyes and opened them, the lights!

My bulbs were glowing again,
I stepped my feet on the floor,
And it felt slippery, i started to trace it,
Jeez! , it was a baby boa constrictor,
I felt a sharp sting on my left leg.
