A Diamond Turned To Glass

I remember things we said, when love was far from through...
Years went on, and youth was lost, our love was nothing new..
We hadn't reaped the harvest of the love that we once knew...
Instead, we picked the harvest of the sadness, that we grew...

All the years I took for granted, you would still be there...
And all the years, you're love remained, but faded, with the wear...
The unsaid word, and words we voiced, at hearts would rip, and tear...
Until the pieces lie upon the emptiness we share...

Too many things that hurt, and the pain too much to take...
Had soon turned into silence, with two hearts waiting to break...
Contempt replaced the feelings, of the love we used to make...
Hold together? , fall apart? , which was the big mistake...

We've made enough of those for sure, mistakes were quite a few...
All of mine belong to me, and yours belong to you...
I guess I saw the life we had, from my own point of view...
One mistake I live with, ..but that is nothing new...

It left as sudden as it came, like lightning, just a flash...
A delicate and precious gem, a diamond turned to glass...
Collision of two thoughts and minds, had caused our deadly crash...
With shards that stabbed and bled our hearts, and words to cut, and slash...

I vowed a long long time ago, that I would make your life...
To stand by you through good and bad, the husband and the wife...
But deeds and time can cut a love, as deep as any knife..
To murder all we'd trusted, cause chaos, pain and strife...

So now I guess It's down to this, that's what bad times can do...
Not seeing what you loved in me, or what I loved in you...
The last thing we'd expected has come finally, burning through...
And taken love and left two hearts, so sadly cut in two.........
