A Disease Called Private Pocket Poem by Phrank Adie

A Disease Called Private Pocket

There is a dangerous disease called 'Private Pocket.'
In this country, it has become a legitimate racket.
It has eaten deep into the very fibre of our nation,
Threatening its future and its very survival..

Every day we hear millions, billions and trillions,
But all these 'lions' find their way into private pockets;
Allocations meant for the rehabilitation of our roads-
Find their way into private pockets.

Monies meant to refurbish our schools-
Find their way into private pockets.
Funds meant to revive our refineries-
Find their way into private pockets.

Cash meant to revitalize our industries
Finds its way into private pockets.
Loot recovered from PDP's private pocket
Finds its way into APC's private pocket.

TThe private pockets of the ruling class stretch far and wide;
Our common wealth finds a welcoming place inside.
But the pockets of the poor are full of holes;
Whatever enters them scarcely stays.
