A Dry Smile In The Night Poem by Micheal Olaniyi

A Dry Smile In The Night

A spiralling water gushed out,
inside of me, from a sincere emotion,
eroding away the feet of the faith
to have cleared away this fearful fate.
with a dry smile in the thick darkness
of the night, I stood and grinned like a fool
as I was stung with the new sting of the quest.
my silence screamed so loud
to the pain it brought
to have noticed the squeaking and
cracking sound of the night,
before a cool breeze from the west came
along with a soft whisper in consolation.
A disheartening song, my heart could
have sung, but it lost its voice,
to the trauma it brought.
somewhere in the dark, my cold stare
and hapless face insinuates 'nothing
is left',
not even the little light of a star to brighten up the night till tomorrow, but I think maybe not today, maybe it will show tomorrow.
