A Fallen Leaf Poem by Cyril Mathew

A Fallen Leaf

I saw him, In the previous year
I met him in the gone month,
And I found him yesterday!
We exchanged smoothly,
A touching laugh!
A gentle pause:
Wept he then,
I felt sorry.

Briskly had he gone!
Into the troublesome waters of:
Hues and human hues,
Deserting, gazing and wondering!

Amidst the gallows,
As destiny determined,
Kept he silent?

“rope is right
Loop will hold
Knot is good
And that is fair! ”

The quite satisfactory return,
Met the piercing fire-ball pair!
Dripping tears cooled it down!
Wiping emotions, feeling cold,
Went I swiftly to the burrow.

Circumstances,
Brought a black thunder!
Like a breeze the victim came,
Launched on the platform, to fly.

Antipathy moved! Moved me!
I covered the face in black.
A full sane good-bye induced,
All aspirations clogged.
The rooster cried loudly, then
The loop was on his neck!
Oh he glanced at me!

The high frequency waves of him,
Shattered the depths of my mind.
The sounds of the distant; far
But near; relative hearts
Resonanced in ours!
I repelled,
Legal justice compelled,
A sound!
Door of justice opened?
The terminating life,
The swinging rope,
The tending limit!
A piece of time escaped!
And peace be granted
To those who have good will?
