A Father's Love Poem by Mel Cooper

A Father's Love

You will always lie to me
But what is there to gain?
You call up while you're drunk
Why do you cause me such pain?

You tell me that you love me
But then treat me like dirt
What do I believe then?
When your lies really hurt?

I tell you that I love you
I wish it were a lie
You never showed you cared for me
Why won't my feelings die?

With all the pain you cause me
I pray my heart will mend
But until the day you love me, Dad
My hatred will never end
