A Father's Mistake Poem by sancia lawrence

A Father's Mistake

You were my sun in winter
You were my flowers at springtime
But on that treacherous night I became a monster
And trampled your beautiful petals

What came over me?
I ponder each weary day
How could I have touched you like I did?
Every time your mom was away

I am sorry I was a drunkard
And lashed out at you in a sexual way
I am sorry I wasn’t a father
But only a hated person you wanted out of your way

If only you could forgive me
For the hurt I caused you
If only I could take your pain away

If only you could be…….. Once more
My sun in winter
And my flowers at springtime

Everybody deserves a second chance. Even those who have done expensive mistakes.
