A Few Moments More Poem by Dr. Suprita Palit

A Few Moments More

Rating: 5.0

Oh! Wait a few minutes more
I have work left undone
Let me breathe in the beautiful tranquility once
A Lungful of it would do
Let me experience the inner peace a little more
That I have strived so hard to find
Do play its music to fill my soul
And make it sing and dance

My child is no longer a baby now
A man he is, oh wow!
His own way he can tread
As I have now cut the invisible thread
Though the wonderful bond will remain forever
Sometimes he in mine or I in his prayer

And yes! ! My beautiful garden
Needs a little more care
A few more moments please do share

My unfinished books are staring at me
But I have to flee
Though I could do with some time given to me free

Death, could a few moments do
To collect my precious memories
And go through them in peace?
Will my hand be held by you?

Alone I have to walk the untrodden path
Perhaps with joy or perhaps with uncertainty
The walk which might seem short
Or till eternity.
