A FEW WEEKS AND A FEW YEARS LATER Poem by Jan Lauwereyns

A FEW WEEKS AND A FEW YEARS LATER

The corpse could not deny what it was it was
past the dog began to bark more often than before

the man began to think more often than before

about his poor dear lovely wife
his one and only lady love of many years who

was lost which did not mean she'd vanished

he bought a blue guitar he read he studied started
stroking his dog more often than before he said hello

to people in the morning sun hello to things he sang

of chair and table and pencils puppets pans and pins
useless pointless and important crucial for her too.
