A HEADLESS SNAKE (FRAGMENT) Poem by Jan Lauwereyns

A HEADLESS SNAKE (FRAGMENT)

Real thing

It's the real thing

Is it poetry

I'm telling you

What should we do

I wonder what to do

You shouldn't do that kind of thing

I'm telling you

Don't touch

Is it poetry

Not moving, though

Maybe it's dead

I think it's dead

Really

I can touch, then

This kinda thing, how'd ya say, it's venomous

Venom

Venom

Is it blood

It's venomous

Sure it is

One day a headless snake in my yard

Absolutely venomous

But, look

Looking carefully, I don't see its head anywhere

Yeah

There
