A Friend Long Gone Poem by Jared Ashby

A Friend Long Gone

Rating: 5.0

Let me tell you about a sad day,
one that doesn't happen any other way,

'Hello my friend' I say once more,
As I hear the knocking at the door,

I welcome him in, he comes along,
we tell each other 'it's been too long'

For a while we sit around and talk,
then we decide to go for a walk,

There's old man Jenkins mowing the lawn,
he looks at us as if there where something wrong,

We shrug it off and walk on our way,
I ask my friend for dinner he should stay,

'Oh how I would like to sit and break bread,
but you see the reality is that I'm already dead, '

I watch him as he disappears,
and then I fall down in tears.
