A Frozen Friend Poem by Allison Barnett

A Frozen Friend

Rating: 4.0

harsh words, steel glances
frostbitten voice that is not her own.
what has happened to the sun-bathed friend i once knew?
where has she gone?
or perhaps she is not retrievable,
no matter how hard i wish it
her warmth is not simply covered
no, it is transformed
she is so cold now.
the sun froze
and turned into a bitter world of ice
where she sits haughtily
like a new queen
banishing me with her newfound power
so i guess i must take my leave.
again

This kinda reminds me of my friend. She got all up on the popularity in school and forgot who was there for her since day one. She and I are no longer bestfriends but I pray so hard that one day she comes running back, but untill then, Good-Bye. Love the poem.
