A Global Fever Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

A Global Fever

Fear was never meant to be a disease
No antibiotic can address this illness
No psychotherapist is ready to undress this monster
Fear is a protruding force in today's global village
Overwhelming the technology of the day
Fear is stampeding across the global village
Overtaking the world of science and religion
Fear is now a dogma in the streets of life
Planted by young and old
Fear is germinating from the womb of humanity
Recklessly and carelessly uprooting any sense of hope
Fear is a monster storm
A gigantic hurricane is heading for our minds
Fear is a dragon
An ancient monster is re-born
Fear is a global fever
Every citizen of the global village is afraid
There is no medicine for this unclassified disease
Neither science nor religion has a remedy for fear
Only the spirit knows the origin of fear
Fear is nothing but a careless embrace of the enemy
The spirit is the only shield against fear
And unless your spirit knows the light
Fear will always be your companion
Do not hold fear higher than hope
Hope is the fortress on which to hide your thoughts
Hope is the solvent on which to dissolve fear
Fear is nothing but an opportunistic infestation of the spirit
It is a spiritual warfare
Do not be alarmed
Fear has been defeated so many times
Just embrace your spirit
And be one with your true self
