A God, A Listener Poem by angel angel

A God, A Listener

Seven billion people pray to a thousand gods.
Is there a single one that can make these voices stop.
I say that i'm fine but my tree is drying
there won't be nothing left but i promise i'm trying.

Listen to my prayers that come from desperation.
I need an escape i'm waiting at the train station.
Remember the cold while we walked to your dorm?
Holding my hand in your pocket to keep me warm.

I used to listen to the sound of your heartbeat,
and now I pray for quiet as I walk down the street.
Telling me i'm yours and you're mine forever,
when we both know forever will one day mean never.

I just wanted to say thank you for your words. They really spoke to me. I liked how you talked about praying and feeling desperate, and how sometimes it feels like nobody's listening.
