A Heart Should Beat Poem by Mark Hopwood

A Heart Should Beat

Rating: 5.0

Feel the fire burn in the night
See the dark stains cover the light
As the emptiness thumps inside
Where a heart should beat.

Walk the circles of the mind
The sight has gone, life is blind
And loneliness speaks in silence
Where a voice should be.

Chew the words and spit them out
They're all worthless anyway
Stare through the shadow of what used to be
As another soul sinks into the depth of the sea.

Look in the mirror and curse the face
Feel everything disappear without a trace
As the world points a finger and laughs
Where a hand should be.

Sometimes emptiness is created another way, where one loves and it is never truly returned. It is something we all urn. And we empty without it. Great Poem.
