A Huge, Gigantic Kali Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

A Huge, Gigantic Kali

A huge, gigantic statue of Kali
Made from clay,
How magnificent and stupendous,
Terrible and horrible the image
Of Kali, Mahakali,
Karal-vikral Kali, Dreadful Kali
With the sword and other weapons
Into her hands
And with a white crown over head
And the red tongue of the lips
Held in shame or anger
And Shiva lying beneath
And one leg over his chest
As if in dialogues with stars and the moon
With the garland of the heads of sinners
Symbolic of cataclysm and the night of creation,
Not only dreadful, but blissful too
With one of the hands blessing.
