A Lesson Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

A Lesson

After
Having
Missed
Somewhere
Those days
Of the past
Loosing-
When the world
Wide enough
As big and nice
As imagination
Purity of mind
To be the greatest
Pilgrimage
Just to live
And learn.

Blaming
Not anyone-
The happiness
Pouring in itself
From all directions
Experience
New lessons
And memories
So bitter
Feeling happy
Still as always
Having
No expectations
Just to live
And learn.

Loving
This life
Happily
And smilingly
Enriching it by-
Listening
Before speaking
Thinking
Before writing
Gaining
Before loosing
Giving
Before taking
Earning
Before spending
Forgiving
Before praying
Feeling
Before hurting
And loving
Before hating
Just to live
And learn.

Taking
The people
Not for granted
Eventually
Of which
They get tired of
Leaving
Me in lurch
Swearing of
The church.

And then
Relying
Upon my inner
Peace and silence
Keeping
My lesson
Planning
All the same
As always
Just to live
And learn.
