A Lifetime - Poem by Dawson Walter Smith

So far have we yet come,
That in my lifetime.
The winds here in history,
May not even chime.

We may not even
Get very far.
Compared to how we,
are under the night's star.

But before we must,
leave to where we came.
From here we went,
Went to where we return.

So when I have,
to go forever genuinely.
I hope to not be surprised,
Death gave me eternity.

Such a surprise,
How far we have to go.
To return from there,
Such a long time ago.
