A Little Story Poem by Terri A

A Little Story

I am about to tell you

a little story.

Its bitter sweet.

Once I dug a pit.

Deep in shame and self pity.

Never thought much of myself

but doubted every day.

Religiously I'd say

'Why can't you be like 'them'? '

To be normal, I prayed.

Yet deeper and deeper,

I sunk myself.

A smile plastered on my face.

'No one can know'

'Don't show the pain'

Fountains of tears

...more like the ocean.

Happy when the night came,

because that signaled

the day's end.

Seeked refuge in my dreams.

To escape reality;

but, all I saw was my mistakes.

Replayed over and over

in front of me.

I felt so alone.

'No one will understand'

Locked away. Isolated

...or so I thought

Until 'the hand'.

That hand stretched out before me.

With a great light.

In all glory.

Reached out with a voice so sweet,

'Come walk with me.'

'Am I dreaming? '

'No one else is here'

That day the Lord appeared

and pulled me out of my pit.

Filled with shame and pity.

Ever since then,

he has done so much for me.

I told him everything

...about the way I felt.

He listened and smiled down at me.

As I took it all to him in prayer.

Repentance and Forgiveness,

and Glory too,

has given me the courage

to share my story with you.

Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Wait and do not murmur.

He is here, there and everywhere.

To bless our waiting souls.

All we have to do is

CALL

Call upon him

and he will answer.

For he is our Heavenly Father.

Who loves to hear

and answer prayer.
