A Lonely Heart Poem by Patrick Jomo

A Lonely Heart

Roaming thoughts, restless mind
My strength is draining with the fading light
The day has been long and plain;
I can see the events of the day replaying on my mind like
A love song dedicated by a lover
Tell me how you feel when I think about you!

Just the other day, you promised you'd come
by the end of the week
With goodies preserved for me at the junction
I'd fantasize over the night that'd be
With the chilling cold kept at bay
And I saw clouds moving towards the east in a virgin night;
The mood was right for your arrival

I waited patiently……

As the night grew slowly into midnight,
Movements receding to the quiet corner of the city
The silence was taking over the remaining part of the night, yet
I kept hope, and hope kept with me to the wee hours of the morning,
Then it left...
Tell me how you feel when I'm missing you!

Days have since transformed into weeks of loneliness,
My memory becoming selective; only choosing the best
of moments we ever had.
With every stroke of your thought, I miss you more
And long for you
Tell me how you feel when I'm missing you!
