A Love Untrue Poem by Althea Tan

A Love Untrue

If I close my eyes,
I can forget all the lies,
those painful words you've said.

You said you loved me,
fed me your honeyed words,
and I believed you like a fool.

Your cruel tongue,
and love dipped knives,
what was I to do?

And when I look back,
I can feel my heart crack.
I guess the blame falls on me.

Because I am a fool,
for I loved you,
But at least this I know is true
