Hollow Soul Poem by Althea Tan

Hollow Soul

Sometimes I feel sad,
Like blue waves washing off the shore

Sometimes I feel empty,
Like nothing's left inside me.

Sometimes I feel hollow,
Like a carved-out tree's insides

Sometimes I feel broken,
Like shattered glass on a windowsill

Sometimes I feel useless,
Like a knife with a dull edge

Sometimes I feel helpless,
Like I'm drowning beneath the sea

Sometimes I feel squished,
Like hard rocks cracking all my bones.

Sometimes I feel like nothing's left,
Everything inside me gone

Sometimes, I feel worried,
If I'm making the right choice.

Sometimes I feel tired,
Like I've taken too many steps

Sometimes I feel nauseous,
As if I'm falling off a bridge

Sometimes I feel heavy,
like I'm being dragged undersea

I long for rest, to soothe my pain,
To bring peace to my suffering name,

And beneath blue waves and calm silver skies,
I can finally be free
