A Maiden's Fathomless Price - Poem by Abdulla Al Khalifa

O’ sacred divinity,
Thy blessed guidance I seek,
While days and nights elapse
My sense of right grows bleak;

My times evermore faded,
Haunted by shamed fears
Thus no longer canst I
Cloak my rueful tears;

Ignorance beguiled my innocence
To Man’s wanton allure,
Mislead to earthly indulgence
Leaving but memories impure;

And I question if thou canst purge
The burdens of this ageless vice
For it is a cost I once paid,
A maiden’s fathomless price
