A Marble Statue Poem by Adnan Khalifeh

A Marble Statue

Rating: 4.5

Two years of silence were enough
And now it is time to speak.
I threw my heart outside my chest
I needed to be free.
I failed to keep myself away
I only gained much pain.
So please my darling just hear me once
I think I might explain.
I will let you know how much I care
While you have been so unfair.
I have never cried and I could never do
After all I will tell you why.
I have regretted much more and more
Since the day I let you go.
I was like a stupid marble statue
I was strong but not alive.
It was only you my holy soul
I am nothing without you.
