A Marvellous Morning Poem by Francis Duggan

A Marvellous Morning

The nesting birds singing on bushes and trees
And warmth in the sunshine and warmth in the breeze
And daisies in plenty amidst the short grass to be seen
And the Townpark is looking so healthy and green
One can only feel joy at the sounds one does hear and the things one does see
In the beauty of Nature that is all around me
Butterflies flit in the sunshine brown spots on their wings of gray
One must thank Goddess Nature for such a nice day
Why should one wish for heaven when heaven it is here
In this coastal Townpark in the Spring of the year
Is the imaginary heaven from here far away
More blissful than the utopia that I'm in today?
A marvellous morning in the prime of Spring
Of such splendid beauty the poets do sing.
