A Mental Stillness Poem by Timothy minchew

A Mental Stillness

Rating: 5.0

I talk with the shadows,
Cause their all that's here.
They tell me it's okay,
There's nothing to fear.

They say, No need to have worry,
Reverence, or fright.
And when i need a friend,
Just turn out the light

But it's when i shut my eyes,
and don't make a peep.
Then soften my breath,
So they think I'm asleep.

It's then when i feel,
What the shadows truly hide.
They tell me to trust,
To solely confide.

With moon over head,
lights down to a dim.
Softly they whisper,
It's always been him.

As much as i want,
I don't disagree.
They have to be right,
It's always been me.

They say they have the cure
For anger and strife,
Or pain so deep,
That it cuts like a knife.

They ask whats the point?
Of going through life,
Sad and unhappy
With no one beside.

They showed me the truth,
That i am to blame.
For all of my hurt,
My anger and shame

They tell me to do it,
If i want them to stay.
They say when i do it,
it'll all go away.

So now that i sit here,
In this cell of a room.
Awaiting my freedom,
My rebirth and my doom.

They said that they loved me,
Like no other will.
So when they ask me to do it,
I'll swallow this pill.
