A Mic And A Million Miles Away Poem by Adam Rubenstein

A Mic And A Million Miles Away

You sit there looking at me
A mic and a million miles away you seem
What it is you came to see?
What is it you wish of me?

You sit there gazing
Sipping your drink as your eyes start glazing
Over and over
Just another one for the road (please)
Just one more to loosen this load (please)
Oh so heavy these shoulders of mine

Nothing surfaces but my smile
Yet you see through all that
Your eyes undressing me with each line bellowed
Yet you see through all that
And smile back
Understanding
Listening to my plea
A mic and a million miles away from me
