A Moonlit Journey Poem by Jonathan Andrews

A Moonlit Journey

The moon in all her sable glory
Looked upon the waves and saw
A pilgrim in his humble story
Plaugéd by a wound so raw
She stopped and called to raise his eye
But he could not but lift his head,
So the moon-queen uttered such a cry
The pilgrim answered her and said:
O stellar mistress, full of light,
I ever wonder at the sight
Of your eternal beauty bright
As walkest thou thy course at night.
And so the lady wept a tear
And so the pilgrim left this sphere,
But when his spirit passed her throne,
He paused inside the light she shone.
And there remains he to this day
His humble homage her to pay
And shines she still in skies above
At his regard and for his love.
