A Morbid Vision Poem by EU STRESS

A Morbid Vision

I saw a Buddhist monk -
A tender boy in saffron robes,
Hung upside down from a long rope;

His hands were tied behind his back
And his feet strongly roped;

He was flung down from a great height
Deep into a water course,
Left submerged for some time
And hurled up again to be tossed down.

This repeated several times,
Until he choked to death.

~~XX~~

History reveals that from 1975 to 1979 Buddhism was completely suppressed and many monks were killed in Cambodia and its neighbouring countries.
