A Mother Passing On Poem by Ray Hansell

A Mother Passing On

You were always warm and kind
A caring gentle soul
More concerned about others
Then you were about yourself
Your loyalty to family
Was something to behold
You never made it about yourself
Because you knew it wasn't
You knew that there were others
Who needed it so much more than you
So now as the end is near
Your family gathers around
Not a dry eye can be found
You meant that much to them

Family and friends will miss you
More than you'd ever thought
You'll live in their hearts
Their minds and souls
Everyday they'll think about you
Everyday they'll miss you more
Of course they'll be times
When they wish you were still here
It will be tough on them for a while
As adjustments always take time
For all of us
Just know she's looking down upon you
As proud as a mother or wife could be
Perched up there high above
Her family she'll always see
