A Mystic Voice Poem by Mohammad Younus

A Mystic Voice

A Mystic Voice
And I hear it all day long—
A voice only I believe,
A secret whisper in my soul.
It is truly the divine's call.

Even if I plug my ears,
I cannot escape its sound,
For the voice speaks beyond hearing,
Unceasingly echoing around.

I sleep with the voice,
I wake with its song;
And I confess, I go mad
When state of qabz overtakes me.

But constantly, steadily,
I hear this voice divine—
A whisper of quiet,
A secret of mine.

The voice is mystic,
The voice is light,
The voice is wisdom,
Gorgeous, and bright.

It resonates through
Every star, every tree.
There will never be a day
When the voice leaves me.
