A Nation Divided Poem by Jude Fuhnwi

A Nation Divided

Rating: 5.0

From a colonial anomaly
They gloat over a seething underclass
Where injustice and greed reign supreme
Like quicksilver persecuting for prosecution

In their telling short-sightedness
The ferocious scandal-ridden leaders
Fan repression that hardens bitterness
Ruining the decades-long 'one and indivisible'

In denial sacrifice dialogue for brutality
Least guided by pursuits of impartiality
Then violence begets indignation
Inadvertently fomenting division

With everything but the brain
Still proclaim the ‘one and indivisible'
Fiercely in the eyes of counterforces
A people resolute to part again
